3 RULES FOR HEALTHY GROCERY SHOPPING
Ryan Milton Aug 2017
Everything in the grocery stores these days say “Healthy”, “Low Fat”, “Organic”, “Natural” Etc.
This can result in you eating plenty of foods you think are healthy for you and your goals but actually the hold you back from them more than anything else.
It can be nearly impossible to identify what foods are actually healthy and which are junk food disguised as health food.
Rule Number 1
Stick to the parameters of the store.
The aisles will more often than not contain all the junk food and disguised health food.
The parameters of the store will often be where you find the fresh and minimally processed foods such as meats, vegetables, fruits etc.
These foods are automatically going to be your best starting point.
Rule Number 2
Stay away from anything in a box or package.
These foods are always going to be less healthy for you and your goals. We are talking about deli meats, cookies, crackers, chips, etc.
These foods are loaded with additives and other preservatives that will hinder your progress in the gym no matter who you are and what you are trying to do.
Rule Number 3
Make a list prior to going
Nope. You are not in the store to satisfy your hunger or your cravings you may have at that moment.
You are there shopping, because you have goals and you need the fuel to see them through.
Make sure you have built a list of exactly what you need and nothing more.
Stick to this list and do not get anything extra no matter what.
The last minute additions, the extra box of cookies or maybe even the quick grab energy or protein bar is not going to suite you and your goals.
Remember why you are shopping in the first place and stick to what will give you results!
