So you wanna compete in bikini?
Get ready for countless hours banging on the weights, lots of terribly boring and bland foods you can never divert from, hundreds of hours sweating on the treadmill and tons of questionable supplements and contest prep practices!
But that’s ok right?
That’s just what it takes if you want to compete isn’t it?
There are many poor coaching tactics and old school ideas that are still very alive in this industry. Looking at what you see on social media it basically looks like you need to push yourself close to death just to compete and unfortunately, this is actually somewhat true if you perform bad practices.
What are bad practices?
Water manipulation, Sodium manipulation, Diuretics, questionable supplements, terribly low calories, chronic cardio, over training etc.
This unfortunately is the norm with many competitors and many coaches but I absolutely assure you there is no need for these practices period.
When you look at the research, most all of these practices are strictly broscience. Yes I said broscience and if you don’t know what that means it’s basically junk that gym bros have declared is the answer to every problem even though there is actually no evidence to support their claims.
There are no studies that show you need to do any of those practices to compete and place well and actually it typically shows the exact opposite.
In my opinion,
You should be able to compete whenever you want throughout your life in a healthy manor with just a couple months needed for prep at any level.
If you choose to partake in all these practices that are so hard on your body, metabolism and overall well being, you can bet you will have a much shorter competition career and potentially even shorten your life span.
Eat smart, Train Smart, Compete Smart.
And enjoy it for your entire life.
