WHAT IS BIKNI DIVISION?
In bikini, judges are looking for muscle development that creates an hourglass shape, with conditioning that shows soft lines and slight separations. Never cuts or striations.

It's all about creating the most symmetrical physique upper to lower.

Bikini requires muscle and conditioning, but to a lesser degree than other women's divisions such as Figure or Women's Physique.
​
It's a great division for women who want to train hard and look great on stage without getting overly muscular or lean.

A FEW TIPS...
NUTRITION
The goal is to build muscle while staying lean. Everyones dream right? While much easier said than done, it is possible.
You may have heard of "the bulk" season before, but for a bikini competitor, i'd recommend you stay away from that.
You should focus on staying relatively lean while building muscle by keeping yourself in a slight caloric surplus. This will help make the transition into prep easier without needing to cut a ton of extra body fat in the process.
TRAINING
The hourglass is everything in bikini and you want to make sure your training reflects that.
Your training should focus on

Creating width up top with fullly developed, rounded shoulders

Creating a tapering effect at the waist

Building glutes, hamstrings and quads that will match the upper body
In bikini, the goal is shape. Not mass.

Diets filled with nutrient dense foods and high calories, cardio that was done sparingly to preserve muscle, lifting routines that were focused on strength and functionality in addition to aesthetics. Focus on sleep quality, sunlight and activities outside of the gym. PED's didn't even exist and also weren't needed.
Bodybuilders of the forgotten era's were strong, lean, functional, aesthetic, natural and overall healthier than any bodybuilders of today. ​
My coaching practice focuses on bringing health back to bodybuilding and coaching competitors at all levels without the extreme detrimental practices that are so common today.
